    ✦ Annie Gerway

    Co-Founder, Lead Brand Designer

Annie is Happenstance Design Co.’s lead brand designer and co-founder. She’s endlessly fond of a good pattern and a funky typeface (even better if they’re paired together!), and loves to bring brands to life with expansive and illustrative identities. When she’s not looking at microscopic differences in pixels, you can find her hanging out with her pets, throwing middling quality ceramics, or playing nerdy games with her friends.

    ✦ Shelley Dunville

    Co-Founder, Lead Website Designer

Shelley is the lead web designer at Happenstance. She’s passionate about collaborating with clients to understand their “why” and tell their unique stories through web design. She loves creating smart processes to seamlessly lead clients through branding and website design work—especially when it results in them feeling super confident along the way. Outside of work, Shelley can be found reading romance novels, crocheting or knitting, dabbling in combat robotics, and traveling with her husband and cat.

Our Meet-Cute

We met during a focus group hosted by Squarespace’s product development team. During introductions, Annie commented on Shelley’s very cute crocheted sweater. A few days later, we got in touch via Instagram to talk shop (and fiber arts).

What began as a way to beat solopreneur loneliness turned into biweekly meetings to chat all things business. Quickly, this also turned into a dear friendship. We began working on projects together, and finally decided to turn our running joke of “let’s both dissolve our businesses to officialy work with each other” into a reality in the form of Happenstance Design Co.

For us, working together is better. We offer that same level of support to our clients.
